We all experience moments of utter despair in which we think “I hate my life.” Whatever we feel is going wrong, be it our job, our relationships, or our social, economic, or even political circumstances, there are ways to cope with hard times and truly feel better. This Webinar with Dr. Lisa Firestone will discuss psychological tools and scientifically backed concepts that can change the very way we see ourselves and our circumstances.

Her 90-minute presentation will include the following:

  • An introduction to the concept of the “anti-self,” an inner enemy we all possess that generates much of our negative and self-destructive thinking. She will talk about steps and therapeutic methods to conquer this inner critic.
  • An overview of scientifically proven methods of building resilience to help people cope with stress and deal with life’s challenges.
  • A discussion of how making sense of one’s story and learning the steps of differentiation can help people separate from their past and feel stronger in the present, creating the life they truly want.
  • An introduction to a toolkit of coping strategies that can help individuals whenever they feel overwhelmed. In addition to specific exercises, this section will feature information on how self-compassion and mindfulness practices can assist people in feeling calm, centered, and capable when facing hardships or making changes.
  • A list of essential suicide prevention resources for those experiencing a crisis. No matter what our circumstances, we can all learn methods to help us emerge from the darkest moments in our lives. This Webinar will help individuals and mental health professionals understand these methods and put them into effect.
